ASMAAUL HUSNA 03
And it’s all about forgiveness – That which opens doors to everything….
Today we will focus on 2 of the 4 Asmaaul Husna that deal with Forgiveness and Repentance
- GHAFFAAR (14) – The One Who forgives continuously (perpetually)
- GHAFOOR (34)– He Who forgives even the deepest of sins completely
- TAWWAAB (80) – He Who accepts the return of wrong doing again and again
- ‘AFUW (82) – The One Who erases sins o there is no trace of them
وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي رَحِيمٌ وَدُودٌ
And ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn to Him; surely my Lord is Merciful & Loving.
NO MATTER HOW FAR ASTRAY, HOW FAR WE HAVE GONE, HOW MANY SINS WE HAVE COMMITTED, THERE IS NO PLACE TOO FAR FOR HIS FORGIVENESS AND MERCY TO REACH. GREATEST GIFT IS ISTIGHFAAR AND TAWBA
ISTIGHFAAR
- Is to ask Allah to protect one from the consequences of one’s own mistakes.
- Ghifaar means a helmet that protects one’s head.
The first dua made by the first human being ( Prophet Adam) was istighfaar
They said: Our Lord! We have been unjust to ourselves, and if You do not forgive us or have mercy on us , we shall certainly be of the losers. 7:23
Then Adam was inspired with words by his Lord, so He accepted his repentance. Surely He is the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.2:37
Prophet Adam (pbuh) did not justify his mistake of being deceived by Shaytan but immediately took responsibility and asked for forgiveness. That is the crux of asking for forgiveness – taking responsibility.
That is were Allah is Ghaffaar and Ghafoor.
“I heard the Messenger say, “Allah said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it”.
