87 AL JAAMI – THE GATHERER

ONE WHO BRINGS TOGETHER COMPONENTS TO MAKE A WHOLE. HE UNITES INTENTIONS AND DEEDS, THE VISIBLE AND THE INVISIBLE. HE WILL GATHER ALL HUMAN KIND ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT.

رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ النَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ
“Our Master! You will indeed gather humankind on a day in which there is no doubt. Indeed Allah does not break His promise.” 3:9

Al Jaami’ unites the inner and the outer world. He brings cohesion amongst different people, uniting them under a shared spiritual force of “There is no God but Allah”.

Every week Muslims gather on Yawmul Jumua’ (Day of gathering) – Friday
Once a year Muslims from all over the world gather to do the hajj that bears witness to their commitment to their faith.

On YAWMUL JAM’AA (The Day of Gathering ) The Day of Judgement: 

i) The oppressed will be gathered together with the oppressor to exact justice
ii) Every messenger will be gathered with his nation
iii) The people of Janna with each other
iv) The people of Jahannam with each other

When Prophet Adam (pbuh) and Sayyida Hawwa were separated and sent from Janna to the earth they found each other by calling out to Al Jaami.

Our dua should be ‘Yaa Jaami! Help me to unite my actions with my intentions and inner truth.’
