…وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ مَعْدُودَةٍ
‘And if We delay their punishment until a certain time…’ 11:8
He delays punishment to allow the human being to reform himself.
لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
“The sun is not permitted to overtake the moon, nor can the night go beyond the day but each swims in its own orbit.” 36:40
