59 AL MU’EED – THE RESTORER

THE ONE WHO BRINGS BACK. HE WHO CREATED EVERYTHING RESTORES IT TIME AND AGAIN. HE GIVES LIFE TO THE DEAD AND TO HIM WE WILL ALL RETURN.

إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيد
“It is indeed He who originates (begins) and restores (brings back). ” 85:13

Al Mubdi’ (the Beginner) and al-Mu’eed (the Restorer) are often paired together as He who begins (originates) creation will also restore it (re creates).

أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ
بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ
Does the human being suppose that We will not put together his bones?
Indeed, We are able to reconstruct even his fingertips! 75:3-4

Al Mu’eed will restore every part of the human body down to the minute detail of the individual fingerprints (no two fingerprints are the same).

REFLECTION

 إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Indeed we are from Allah and to Him we return. 2:156

Our lives are like a circle – Allah (AL MUBDI’) begins our lives when we are born and we are restored to Allah (AL MU’EED) when we die. That is why we circle (do tawaf) of the Ka’ba in an anticlockwise direction to remind us that we are going back in time to our origin (being restored).
