وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقًۭا وَعَدْلًۭا ۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِ…
The Word of your Master has been perfected in truth and justice. None can change His Words… 6:115
Al ‘Adl is He Who creates perfect symmetry.
The 99 names balance each other and Al ‘Adl balances everything perfectly.
‘Adl literally means to put everything in its rightful place. Sometimes ‘adl is confused with equality. Equality is not a condition for justice, e.g. Justice in a classroom does not mean that all the students are given equal marks; but that marks are given according to ability and effort. Similarly, it would not be ‘adl (justice) if a large oak tree was given the same roots as that of a small sapling.
وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ اَحَدًا
“..And your Lord is not unjust to anyone.” 18:49
Scales are used to weigh and balance things. We each have a set of scales in our heart which tell us when things are out of balance (when we are being unjust). It is called our conscience.
Recite YAA ‘ADL frequently for others to recognise the truth in you.
