25 AL MUZHILL – THE DISHONOURER

THE TEACHER OF HUMILITY

“…..You grant honour to whomsoever You will and You teach humility to whomsoever You will; In Your hands is All Good, and You have power over all things.” 3:26

Al Muzhill is the one who teaches us that separation from Divinity cannot give peace, contentment or satisfaction. The utmost level of dishonour is to be deluded that creation alone can bestow honour.

When our forehead touches the ground it assists in understanding humility. It is from this place that we accept our powerlessness before Allah and understand the meaning of Al Muzhill.

REFLECTION

The word ‘humble’ originates from the Latin word ‘humilis’ which means ‘on the ground’. Thus a humble person is known as one ‘who is down to earth’.
Al Muzhill is He Who brings one who is arrogant ‘down to earth’.
