اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.” 24:35
Every knowledge, discovery and invention is a light energy from Allah.
“Allah has illuminated the heavens with the light of the stars, the sun and the moon…
And He has illuminated the heart of the believer with faith and submission.”
Imam Sadiq (pbuh)
اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ مَثَلُ نُورِهِ كَمِشْكَاةٍ فِيهَ
مِصْبَاحٌ ۖ الْمِصْبَاحُ فِي زُجَاجَةٍ ۖ الزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوْكَبٌ دُرِّيٌّ يُوقَدُ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ زَيْتُونَةٍ لَا شَرْقِيَّةٍ وَلَا غَرْبِيَّةٍ يَكَادُ زَيْتُهَا يُضِيءُ وَلَوْ لَمْ تَمْسَسْهُ نَارٌ ۚ نُورٌ عَلَىٰ نُورٍ ۗ
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His Light is a niche wherein is a lamp—the lamp is in a glass, the glass as it were a glittering star—lit from a blessed olive tree, neither eastern nor western, whose oil almost lights up, though fire should not touch it. Light upon light.” 24:35
The Qur’an describes a glass lamp in the niche of a wall. In the glass is oil from an olive tree that shines like a star even before the oil is lit. Once it’s lit – there is light upon light. The niche is the heart of the human being with faith and submission, and the lamp is the light of Allah that shines in our hearts.
Recite Yaa Nur to remove sorrow and illuminate the heart. Also recite it if you are lost to find the right direction.
