لَيْسَ الْبِرَّ اَنْ تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ
“It is not righteous that you turn your faces towards the East and the West…” 2:177

The word ‘Barr’ is related to the Arabic word for land or earth. The earth is ‘a doer of good’ for it provides is with food, flowers, plants, metals and many other resources. It makes things grow and flourish.

Al Barr shows kindness to those who oppose Him
He forgives those who ask for forgiveness and He accepts their apologies
He covers our mistakes and weaknesses
He is the One Whose blessings never end, even when the blessed one lives in rebellion
He fills the heart with joy and heals it.
