24 AL MU’IZZ – THE HONOURER

THE ONE WHO GIVES HONOUR AND AUTHORITY. HE WHO CONNECTS THE HUMAN BEING WITH THE DIVINE WITHIN.

وَتُعِزُّ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَن تَشَآءُ ۖ بِيَدِكَ ٱلْخَيْرُ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ……
“…..You grant honour to whomsoever You will and You teach humility to whomsoever You will; In Your hands is All Good, and You have power over all things.” 3:26

Honour comes from knowing that everything comes from Him and that honour comes from serving His creation making a positive difference to the world we live in.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍۢ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ شُعُوبًۭا وَقَبَآئِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتْقَىٰكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌۭ
O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware. 49:13

“O people, be aware: your God is One. No Arab has any superiority of honour over a non-Arab, and no non-Arab any superiority of honour over an Arab, and no white person has any superiority of honour over a black person, and no black person any superiority of honour over a white person , except on the basis of taqwa (God consciousness) .” Prophet (pbuh)

In order for a tree to be strong and tall, and be able to withstand all weather conditions it needs strong deep roots. In order for us to be honourable in the eyes of Allah (rise to our full potential), we need to ensure that our roots of submission to Divinity, following Divine Guidance and acknowledging Accountability, are firmly embedded.
