Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans for Juniors

A scheme of work is a road map or a long-term plan of how a subject will be taught across a period of time. It lists a step by step action plan of how to get there. It ensures that nothing is left out and although takes up a lot of thought and time to devise, allows clarity and continuity for individual lesson goals.

A lesson plan is a teacher’s outline for teaching a lesson which includes:

  • A goal (what the students should learn)
  • How it will be reached (method, activities..)
  • A way of measuring how well the goal was reached (assessments, worksheets…)

It is the most important part of teaching and can be on a scrap of paper, a note on the phone or one of the templates which are downloadable here.
